Berklee City Music student, Brielle Blount, entered a film scholarship competition called Girls Impact the World that focuses on the physical, emotional, social, economic problems that girls and women face around the world today. All the films are made by girls.
Brielle’s piece titled “Dream Beyond Limits!” explores music as a global language of communication. It’s a way to express thoughts, opinions, feelings, passions, dreams and desires. Every year, all around the world, 4 in 7 females are segmented, demeaned and discouraged from pursuing their dreams, including female musicians who play non-traditional instruments and desire non-traditional careers in music. Many times, these musicians (or artists?) are not given their full range of opportunity to express their musical voice. Don’t marginalize female musicians! These young women refuse to take ” no” or “you can’t do it” as their final answer and push beyond the small, smothering boundaries and limitations placed on them. These young women were born to soar… excel!
She has a chance to win the People’s Choice Award. Please vote for Brielle!
