Our 2014 Berklee City Music Network Conference, American Popular Music III: Innovations in Youth Development, is right around the corner – November 2-5 in beautiful Los Angeles, California!
We want to create a valuable, exciting, rich learning environment that inspires us all to raise our program execution across the Network. We’re looking for dynamic presentations that inform music educators and community music school administrators about proven practices, pushing the leading edge of the profession, and motivating the pursuit of excellence. We are asking you to put your best innovative and unique foot forward and share your site’s best practices with other network members.
Our theme this year is on Innovations in Youth Development with each day having a sub-theme:
- Youth Development
- The Challenge of Change
- Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead
- Exceeding the Vision
There will be two strands: educators and administrators.
Possible ideas for Youth Development may be college preparedness, advocacy, and audition preparation.
Potential ideas for the Challenge of Change are social entrepreneurship, creative collaborations, diversification of revenue streams, managing changing values in an organization, and working with non-traditional music education practices.
Possible ideas for Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead are arts integration with science and technology, developing technology programs, how to build infrastructure and capacity to put a music technology program into place, and using technology to reach underserved and at risk populations.
Possible ideas for Exceeding the Vision are placing interns with music industry job studies, developing new models for music education, managing leaps in organizational development, etc.
Call for Presentations Deadline is June 15, 2014, so you have plenty of time to get the short proposal together. If you are chosen to present, your conference fee will be waived.
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or if you have an idea you want to discuss for a presentation.
We look forward to hearing from you about the best practices you have identified at your own site and growing and strengthening our Network together!
