Berklee City Music has shown, through 20 years of caring instruction and thousands of success stories, that it quite literally has the power to change lives

Berklee City Music is a nonprofit education program that harnesses the energy of contemporary music to reach underserved 4th to 12th graders all across the country. Students dedicate themselves to building their musical talent, their self-confidence and, in the long run, the strength of their community.

The Berklee City Music Network connects Berklee City Music in Boston with like-minded music programs all over the country – including Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; New Orleans; and Seattle. The goal of the network is to provide kids with every opportunity to see their musical potential. This includes teaching and mentoring by Berklee graduates who live in their city.

The Heart of City Music Network. PULSE

The Berklee PULSE (Pre-University Learning System Experience) gives kids the benefits of a Berklee education no matter where they live. This proven, state-of-the-art online method of teaching gives students access to caring, professionally trained instructors and invaluable learning material.
Whether a student is interested in instrumental and vocal training, ensemble performance or musicianship development through the music of today, the PULSE Method makes it happen.
PULSE is even more than music. It’s an online community where students can network and absorb positive influences. It paves the way for kids to become more accomplished, more confident and more influential in their world.

City Music Summer Scholarship

Berklee offers full-tuition scholarships to high school students enrolled at Network member sites through an application and audition process. The City Music Summer Scholarship enables the selected students, mostly juniors and seniors, to attend the Berklee Summer Performance Program in Boston

Berklee City Music Network Continuing Scholarship

Each summer, Berklee awards full four-year scholarships for study at the college to a number of City Music Summer Scholarship students who successfully complete the Berklee Five-Week Summer Performance Program. Often, these students have been studying the Berklee Pulse music method through a Berklee City Music Network member site for several years. They are, therefore, well prepared for the challenges of full-time study at Berklee College of Music.
